WELCH FAMILY COURT OF ARMS

This Coat of Arms represents the Welch Family.

The Welch family is well known and highly respected on all three fronts (Nicaragua, Belize, and the United States) hence the crown. The knight stands above the crown and represent our ancestors who oversees and protects the crown (the Hindu and mosquitos Indians believe our ancestors are always looking over us and protecting us) The two crosses on the Knight’s helmet represents our ancestor’s deeply rooted faith in the Catholic Church. Religion is still a major part of the Welch Family. The two Lions are the foundation (Pillars) that holds the family together, and the three flags represents the family history, ancestry, customs, and beliefs. One lions is draped with a manatee to represent our village in Belize where the family had migrated to, from Nicaragua. The other lion is draped with a boat to represents the craft of building and sailing dories (boats).
