THE WELCH-BAILEY CLAN

-IN THE BEGINNING-

Mary Ann Rivers a descendant of the Hindu and Mosquito Indians was born in 1845 in Bluefield, Nicaragua. In 1864 she left the country of Nicaragua as a stow-away and ended up in Belize, which was known as British Honduras. Mary Ann Rivers met and married Samuel Bailey, a native of Belize. From that marriage came four children, Mary Ann II, Caroline, Jim, and Joshua Bailey.

In 1881, John Welch, who had also migrated from Bluefield Nicaragua, married Mary Ann (II) Bailey. From this union, the Welch-Bailey Clan was formed.
